We’re a friendly, local community art studio and we love all things paper and printmaking, from monoprints and drypoint intaglio to collagraphs, lino prints, cyanotypes, and solar plate etching. You’ll also find us getting creative with making handmade paper, sewing artist books, sketching, drawing, and watercolour painting. We offer regular workshops, social art days, artist talks and other exciting art experiences.
I’m the face behind Art from the Urban Wilderness, Brisbane’s newest Print and Paper Studio.
I’m a mid-career visual artist with many years of experience in exhibiting my work, artist residencies and facilitating community workshops all over Australia.
My art practice is closely tied to my relationship with the natural environment within suburban Brisbane where I grew up. When I’m not in my studio, you’ll often find me hanging around the local mangrove creeks and bushland reserves.
Read the story behind my studioSandra's workshops are a lot of fun. She has a really relaxed, gentle and inspiring teaching style, which helps even total beginners turn out some very creative art work. She happily shares her vast knowledge of techniques and tools, and you go home really keen to try out some more ideas. I love that she even travelled to our mountain to share her skills with our small regional group.

I recently attended Sandra’s monoprinting workshop because I wanted to learn the skills required for this type of printing. I was expecting to walk away with just a few ‘beginner’ looking prints, but instead what I produced with Sandra’s wonderful instruction were 7 very ‘professional’ looking prints. The workshop was really informative, well-paced and well set up. Sandra provided us with wonderful tools to work with and so many sources of inspiration. My confidence has taken a huge step forward.

It was a real joy and very satisfying doing Sandra's Fold + Print + Draw workshop. With her willingness to share her knowledge and her patience I easily learnt a number of new techniques which I now use in my own work.
