Eco-dyeing (also known as eco-printing) is a form of botanical printing where the natural colours from plant materials are transferred onto materials such as paper and fabric via heat and pressure. The results are often spectacular, with clear leaf prints in rich browns, reds and olive colours.
Join our guest tutor, Natalie Billing to play with eco-dyeing on both fabric and paper. Using windfall leaves and vegetable peels, you’ll eco-dye a scarf (wool or silk) and make a concertina paper book. You’ll learn all about the eco-dyeing process through Natalie’s extensive experience, so you can continue your eco-dyeing experiments at home.
All materials are provided and the workshop fee includes one scarf and paper for a book. A comprehensive handout is included.
